BOOKS FOR CHANGE is a non-profit organization that works in Nepal for education, especially the acquisition of reading and writing skills for children.
We focus on change within schools in low-income communities during two periods most important to a child's education: early elementary school for literacy acquisition and secondary school for girls' education.
We work with locally founded non-profit organizations that operate exclusively in the project country. The work is planned, carried out and monitored by local experts.
Our carefully selected partners have a community-focused approach, excellent reporting practices and years of experience in delivering effective, sustainable educational projects in their communities.
We believe that working with local organizations is the best way to make a lasting impact.
Our local partners select project locations based on various factors, such as geographic location, needs assessment, community involvement and long-term sustainability.
Local partners spend significant time increasing community acceptance, promoting holistic educational practices and building the capacity of educational committees to manage the projects.
Whenever possible, the work is subcontracted to local workers.
To ensure that the implemented projects continue to have an impact in the future, we strengthen local teachers and managers, use solid operating and maintenance structures, collect data on certain indicators and regularly visit the project sites.
