  • Here is an update on our BOOKS FOR CHANGE library reporting in Nepal

This week we visited three BOOKS FOR CHANGE libraries located in three different schools in Helambhu and Sindupalchok district in Nepal.

We are glad to inform you that all of the three libraries have been well maintained and running effectively. Some libraries were updated with more books whereas Nurbuling School was found bubbling with an intense budding visual scene where children had access to watching movies. It was amazing to watch the children enjoying great animation movies.

In this trip, we were joined by Kumudini team, Sabina ji, and Anuradha ji. A brief awareness program was conducted by Kumudini team about sexual abuse to the children of Yangrima School. We are grateful to the Kumudini team for conducting an important seminar in a short notice.

In addition, a reading session was held for the primary children of Yangrima School. The session was conducted by Nikita Rai and Pranita Chettri. It was attended by 28 students from classes KG, 2 and 3. Two children books "Sanu and the big Storm" by Bandana Tulachan and "Journey" by Ubahang Numbing were read to the children. The children responded to the story with a lot of interest and excitement and further unfurled many of their personal stories from their sleeve. We hope that the teachers continue with the reading session for the students every week. Also, a big thank you to Nikita for conducting the reading session.

It was all totally worth traveling through bumpy, rocky muddy road to visit our Partner Schools. Our discomfort ceased to exist when we saw the schools doing their best and their hard work towards quality education gives us encouragement and confidence to continue the work that we do.
