  • Promotion of our new Children's book Pawankali in NEPAL

The Children book, “Pawankali” book promotion took place in a lively school filled with greenery called Rupi International School, Kathmandu, on 4`th August. In this event, 200 students from primary section and 15 teachers were present to listen to the writer`s presentation. The main objectives of the book promotion were to engage the children with the library establishment ventures of Books for Change in rural Nepal and to brief the students about the children book, “Pawankali”.

The presentation began with the writer introducing Books For Change through the organization video and explaining the significance of venturing into writing children books. She then proceeded by showing them pictures of some of the child friendly libraries established by Books For Change in Nepal which was received with a lot of applause. In addition, she pointed out the importance of reading and writing for primary children by giving examples of the children books that the she read when she was a child and how it has influenced her thinking and molded her.

Lastly, the writer showed the students the pictures from the story, “Pawankali” and read a paragraph that was received with a lot of excitement and happiness. It was then followed with a lot of questions from the students that the writer answered.

Recently, having the children book,”Pawankali” launch in Shuvatara School, Kathmandu and selling 265 copies of Pawankali in a day has inspired the writer to go to more privileged schools in Kathmandu and sell our children book,”Pawankali”. What started out as an experiment has turned out to be a positive entrepreneurial move for us and has also benefited the organization as the promotion gives a platform to share with the students about the work done by Books For Change in Nepal. Moreover, we believe that this book promotion inculcates a sense of giving among the school children and foster in them a life-long passion for reading.
